Selected Commissions & Productions Basement: A Paperknife production, this feature film goes into production in October 2009 at Pinewood Studies, directed by Asham Kamboj and starring Danny Dyer and Kierston Wareing. Story by Asham Kamboj and Ewen Glass. Written by Ewen Glass. I also co-wrote another feature with Kamboj, a project which received backing from the European Social Fund. Futures: Co-wrote this feature thriller with director, Patrick Astwood. It has been optioned by VIP Studios at Pinewood Studios. I also collaborated with Patrick on Children of Baal, The Beholder and Paydirt. Tough Love: I wrote Skype's the Limit segment and additional material for this portmanteau film, which will go before cameras in the summer for 2b Productions. Propaganda Wars (working title): Commissioned by Modern Life?, the production company behind the features, Left for Dead and Ten Dead Men, to write this sci-fi/horror independent. We Saw Zebras: I co-wrote this short film, produced by Wonderland Films in association with 'Lately Productions', with film-maker, Diana Liyanage. A Nurse Called Laura (Un'Infermiera di nome Laura): My short script was produced by Italian production company, Fake#Factory, in 2008. It debuted at Rome Independent Film festival 2009. Martina / The Fountain: A commission by Korean film-maker, Bong-Won Lee, this feature film is in development with Warm Front Films. Sofia: I was commissioned by Indian film-maker, Faisal Saif, to write the script for this feature-film, based on his original story. I was also commissioned by the director to help develop Osama, which recently wrapped in India. The Gyntish Self: I co-wrote this contemporary adaptation of Ibsen's classic to good reviews at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2006: "A jaunty skim through our hero's search for self…with a few more resources [The Gyntish Self] could end up as epic as its source ***" The Herald. "A fast-paced piece with a large dose of humour. Very enjoyable ****" Scottishtheatre.co.uk Qualifications & Training PhD in Film Studies (Practical) at The University of Exeter - Part-time, distance-learning, beginning Autumn 2009. BA (hons) - Film & Media/English Studies - University of Stirling: 1st class honours. Awarded summer 2005. Skillset-supported Screenwriting course in Glasgow, 2005. Awards and Commendations 2009: Short-listed, from thousands of entries, in The Big Pictures script competition. 2008: Won Italian Theatre Festival, Attori in Cerca D'Autore, promoting the best new writing in Europe, with one-act play, A Nurse Called Laura. The play was staged in Rome and a short film version has been produced. 2006: My one-act stage-play, Method, was chosen to take part in 'New Writing New Worlds Theatre Festival' (Glasgow 2006), promoting and celebrating the best new writers in Scotland. 2005: Short film, The Occupier, gained the highest mark ever given by The University of Stirling for a dissertation film in Film and Media. 2000: Short-listed for Ireland Young Playwright of the Year 2000 with stage-play, Now, Then, Lately. |
Personal Profile I have a number of short film productions under my belt including the Rome-debuting A Nurse Called Laura and the upcoming Rosebeef production, Paradise Won; a high-profile feature produced and distributed theatrically and extensively on DVD; and countless feature and short film commissions across the globe. In addition to this I've had my own spec features optioned and purchased. Prizes for my work include Attori in Cerca D'Autore Festival Award 2008, promoting the best new writing in Europe, and short-lists in 'New Writing New Worlds' drama festival (Glasgow, 2006) and Ireland Young Playwright of the Year 2000. I have also received Lottery funding to develop features, Overhead and Surviving Shakespeare (Administered by Northern Ireland Screen.) Practical work has been augmented by undergrad study and part-time PhD in film at University of Exeter. |
